  1.                         CANDLE MAGIC
  2.  
  3.          1    One of the simplese of magical arts which comes under 
  4.          the heading of natural magic is candle burning.  It is simple 
  5.          because it employs little ritual and few ceremonial 
  6.          artifacts.  The theatrical props of candle magic can be 
  7.          purchased at any department store and its rituals can be 
  8.          practiced in any sitting room or bedroom.
  9.          2    Most of us have performed our first act of candle magic 
  10.          by the time we are two years old.  Blowing out the tiny 
  11.          candles on our first birthday cake and making a wish is pure 
  12.          magic.  This childhood custom is based on the three magical 
  13.          principals of concentration, will power and visualization.  
  14.          In simple terms, the child who wants his wish to come true 
  15.          has to concentrate (blow out the candles), visualize the end 
  16.          result (make a wish) and hope that it will come true( will 
  17.          power).
  18.          3    The size and shape of the candles you use is 
  19.          unimportant, although highly decorative, etra large, or 
  20.          unusually shaped candles will not be suitable as these may 
  21.          create distractions when the magician wants to concentrate on 
  22.          the important work in hand.  Most magicians prefer to use 
  23.          candles of standard or uniform size if possible.  Those which 
  24.          are sold in different colors for domestic use are ideal.
  25.          4    The candles you use ofr any type of magical use should 
  26.          be virgin, that is unused.  Under no circumstances use a 
  27.          candle which has already adorned a dinner table or been used 
  28.          as a bedroom candle or night-light.  There is a very good 
  29.          occult reason for not using anything but virgin materials in 
  30.          magic.  Vibrations picked up by secondhand materials or 
  31.          equipment may disturb your workings and negate their 
  32.          effectiveness.
  33.          5    Some magicians who are artistically inclined prefer to
  34.          make their own candles for ritual and magical use.  This is a 
  35.          very practical exercise because not only does it impregnate 
  36.          the candle with your own personal vibrations, but the mere 
  37.          act of making your own candle is magically potent.  
  38.          Specialist shops sell candle wax and moulds together with 
  39.          wicks, perfumes, and other equipment.
  40.          6    The hot wax is heated until liquid and then poured into 
  41.          the mould through which a suitably sized wick has already 
  42.          been threaded.  The wax is then left to cool and once is this 
  43.          has occured the mould is removed , leaving a perfectly formed 
  44.          candle.  Special oil-soluble dyes and perfumes can be added 
  45.          to the wax before the cooling process is complete to provide 
  46.          suitable colors and scents for a particular magical ritual.  
  47.          Craft shops which sell candlemaking supplies can also provide 
  48.          do-it-yourself books explaining the technicalities of the art 
  49.          to the beginner.
  50.          7    Once you have purchased or made your ritual candle it 
  51.          has to be oiled or 'dressed' before burning.  The purpose of 
  52.          dressing the candle is to establish a psychic link between it 
  53.          and the magician through a primal sensory experience.  By 
  54.          physically touching the candle during the dressing 
  55.          proceedure, you are charging it with our pwn personal 
  56.          vibrations and also concentrating the desire of your magical 
  57.          act into the wax.  The candle is becoming an extension of the 
  58.          magician's mental power and life energy.
  59.          8    When you dress a candle for magical use, imagine that
  60.          it is a psychic magnet with a North and a South pole.  Rub 
  61.          the oil into the canlde beginning at the top or North end and 
  62.          work downwards to the half-way point.  Always brush in the 
  63.          same direction downwards.  This process is then repeated by 
  64.          beginning at the bottome or south end and working up to the 
  65.          middle.
  66.          9    The best type of oils to use for dressing candles are 
  67.          natural ones which can be obtained quite easily.  Some occult 
  68.          suppliers will provide candle magic oils with exotic names.  
  69.          If the magician does not want to use these, he can select 
  70.          suitable oils or perfumes from his own sources.  The oils 
  71.          soluble perfumes sold by craft shops for inclusion in candles 
  72.          can be recommended.
  73.          10   the candles you use can be colored in accordance with 
  74.          the following magical uses:

  76.                   white- spirituality and peace.
  77.                   red- health,energy,strength,courage, sexual potency.
  78.                   pink- love affection and romance.
  79.                   yellow- intellectualism, immagination, memory and 
  80.                           creativity
  81.                   green- fertility, abundance, good luck and harmony
  82.                   blue-inspiration, occult wisdom, protection and 
  83.                         devotion
  84.                   purple Material wealth, higher psychic ability, 
  85.                          spiritual power and idealism
  86.                   silver- clairvoyance, inspiration, astral energy and 
  87.                          intuition
  88.                   orange- ambition. carrer matters and the law.

  90.          11   If you wanted to use candle magic for healing, you would 
  91.          select a red candle to burn.  To pass an exam, burn a yellow 
  92.          candle, to gain esoteric knowledge burn a blue candle or for 
  93.          material gain, burn a purple one.  It is obvious these
  94.          colors relate to the signs of the zodiac and the planetary 
  95.          forces.
  96.          12   The simples form of canlde magic is to write dosn the 
  97.          objective of your ritual on a virging piece of paper.  You 
  98.          can use color paper which matches the candle.  Write your 
  99.          petition on the paper using a magical alphabet, such as 
  100.          theban, enochian, malachain,etc.  As you write down what you 
  101.          want to accomplish through candle magic-- a new job, healing 
  102.          for a friend, a change of residence, a new love affair, 
  103.          etc.-- visualize your dream coming true.  Visualize the 
  104.          circumstances under which you might be offered a new job, 
  105.          imagine your employer telling you that your salary has been 
  106.          increased or cinjure up a vision of your perfect love 
  107.          partner.
  108.          13   When you have completed writing down your petitio, 
  109.          carefully fold up the paper in a deliberately slow fashion.  
  110.          Place the end of the folded paper in the candle flame and set 
  111.          light to it.  As you do this concentrate once more on what 
  112.          you want from life.
  113.          14   When you have completed your ritual, allow the candle to 
  114.          have completely burned away.  You do not need to stay with 
  115.          the candle after the ritual, but make sure that is is safe 
  116.          and that red-hot wax will not cause damage or fire.  Never 
  117.          re-use a candle which has been lit in any magical ritual.  IT 
  118.          should only be used in that ritual and then allowed to burn 
  119.          away or be disposed of afterwards.
  120.          15   If you are conducting a magical ritual which involves 
  121.          two people (e.g. an absent healing for a person some distance 
  122.          away) then the  second person can be symbollically 
  123.          represented during the ritual by another candle.  /all you 
  124.          need to do is find out the subject's birth date and burn the 
  125.          appropriate candle for that zodiacal sign.  These are as
